In our discussion, we had the opportunity to explore both the drawbacks and pleasures of the internet and various apps. It was an engaging conversation where I had the chance to interact with my group members, including Emily, Saalihah, Max, and Maggie. I found it particularly interesting to learn about their perspectives, see where our thoughts aligned, and gain new insights.
During our discussion on frictions, we touched upon several issues, such as the hassle of navigating through multiple steps to turn on the camera flash while taking a photo, the annoyance of frequent ad pop-ups on Instagram, and the challenges presented by the new authenticator app when using Outlook, among other topics.
Conversely, when discussing delights, we highlighted aspects that enhance our user experience. For instance, we praised the functionality of Face ID, which simplifies daily phone usage. We also appreciated features like automatically recognizing and allowing you to click on texted codes on an iPhone, sparing us the effort of remembering lengthy combinations of numbers and letters. Additionally, we recognized the convenience of devices remembering and auto-filling our passwords.
This discussion not only helped us become acquainted with our fellow course participants but also served as an excellent icebreaker. It provided valuable insights into different viewpoints and thought processes, making the conversation both enjoyable and enlightening.
In addition to our discussion, we engaged in a group activity where we used Post-it notes for idea generation. The images above and below display our contributions, with the top image showcasing delights, and the bottom image focusing on frictions.

The two images above and below show the post-it-notes idea generation we came up with as a class – my group is the orange ones. The top image is the delights and the bottom is the frictions.
