On October 26th, we had our second coding workshop of the year. During this session, we delved deeper into coding concepts and error identification. We also learned to incorporate simple animations into our websites, which was an enjoyable experience.
Initially, things were progressing smoothly as I followed the steps accurately. However, at a certain point, the teacher’s pace outstripped my understanding, and I fell slightly behind. I had to figure out why my code wasn’t working, which, in retrospect, turned out to be a valuable learning opportunity. It forced me to be independent and problem-solve on my own.
In this workshop, we acquired skills such as changing background colors, animating text, and altering text formatting, including uppercase and lowercase. While most of my classmates used specific code lines for these changes, I discovered that merely changing the initial text to uppercase produced the desired effect on the website without requiring additional code.

Additionally, we learned how to implement a ‘toggle on click’ feature, enabling animations or changes to occur when you click the screen. This concept was slightly perplexing initially, but we eventually grasped it.
In summary, I find coding to be an enjoyable learning experience, especially considering its potential significance in my role as a designer. I look forward to gaining more knowledge in the upcoming sessions. I’m even contemplating enrolling in a 12-week online coding course for two reasons. Firstly, I believe coding is a valuable and intriguing skill to acquire. Secondly, I think it will set me apart in job applications and my pursuit of a career as a designer.
