Evaluate and Iterate - Project 2a

Don Norman’s 7 Design Principles

  1. Discoverability refers to how easily users can find their way around a system.
  2. Feedback is about providing clear information to users regarding actions taken and accomplishments.
  3. Conceptual models are simplified explanations of how a system works, often demonstrated through onboarding experiences in websites or applications.
  4. Affordances are attributes of an object that signal how to use it.
  5. Signifiers, such as icons, lights, sounds, words, or symbols, are visual design elements that represent potential use and system status.
  6. Mapping establishes a clear relationship between controls and their impact on the system, aiming for a natural and intuitive connection.
  7. Constraints limit interaction possibilities to simplify the interface and guide users, reducing confusion.

This process deepened my understanding of website analysis and the considerations for designing my own website. It revealed the intricate details that often go unnoticed and highlighted the comprehensive nature of web design.
