This week, my primary goal was to establish the overall planned design for the app. This approach would provide clarity on areas needing improvement, facilitate necessary changes, and enable me to gather valuable feedback from my tutors. However, my time in the studio was slightly limited as I had to leave on Wednesday afternoon for a doctor’s appointment. Despite concerns about losing studio time, I made up for it by dedicating a substantial amount of work over the weekend.
The focus of the week centered on app design, alongside creating a storyboard for the video. I identified specific areas to concentrate on for both the app design and the upcoming video. At this stage, the colour palette primarily featured white and dark green, serving as a foundation. The emphasis was on setting everything in place—finding images, recipes, and creating a site map for the app. This initial groundwork would lay the foundation for further refinement, ensuring the layout’s clarity and navigability before introducing more intricate design elements. This strategic approach aimed to prioritize user experience over immediate stylisation.

Towards the week’s end, attention shifted to crafting the storyboard for the video. This planning phase was crucial in ensuring a clear vision for the subsequent work in After Effects. Although I had previous experience with After Effects, it had been a while, prompting some initial apprehension. In the storyboards, I considered the duration of each frame, balancing the need for viewers to read text and absorb on-screen imagery. Accounting for individual reading speeds, I aimed to strike a balance that would make the video engaging without being excessively long, mindful of the ideal 1-2 minute duration.
Reflecting on the week, it proved to be highly successful. I accomplished significant milestones and established a clear plan for the upcoming week, instilling confidence in the progress of my projects.
