Weekly rundown

Week 8

This week marked a positive stride in my journey, filled with motivation and excitement for the ongoing project. Commencing with a successful mid-unit review, I received constructive feedback from Dave, my main tutor, acknowledging my progress and providing valuable insights for improvement. While some points were disheartening, I channeled my disappointment into refining my work, aligning it more closely with his expectations.

Navigating an unusual schedule due to mid-week commutes for doctors’ appointments, I faced challenges balancing commitments. Missing out on the VR workshop was regrettable, but I aim to catch up in the next session.

Wednesday brought a comprehensive briefing on projects 5 and 7, inundating us with information. The rapid pace of delivery made note-taking challenging, leaving me with a sense of uncertainty. The upcoming interchange week adds complexity, requiring independent comprehension of the material. Project 5 involves designing wireframes for our apps, while project 7 demands a 3000-word essay—a daunting prospect for someone not inherently inclined towards writing. Considering my social media affinity, I lean towards the social media theme for the essay.

The focal point of the week was generating ideas for project 4, “Design for Good.” Drawing inspiration from the UN’s sustainability principles, I brainstormed app concepts, settling on “Zero Hunger.” Despite initially considering a food donations reward scheme, ethical concerns prompted a shift towards a recipe-changing app. This idea addresses the prevalent issue of food waste arising from unadjusted recipes for varying serving sizes.

Reflecting on the week, I appreciate the progress made in project 4 and the discovery of a unique concept. Despite the challenges, including a tiring schedule, I remained committed to attending classes and pushing through. The week’s accomplishments fuel my enthusiasm for the upcoming project phases.
