To initiate the ideation phase of this project, I began by creating a Miro board with a spider diagram to visually organize my ideas and potential project outcomes. I initially identified various themes and aligned them with different audience groups, consciously avoiding the more obvious ones like ‘eco warriors’ and ‘food and drink.’
Subsequently, I delved into generating ideas within these themes and audience groups to kickstart the ideation process. This proved challenging since the chosen audience categories were quite niche and unfamiliar to me, such as ‘petrol heads’ and ‘punk.’ In fact, I had to research what a ‘petrol head’ was.
After some initial mind mapping, depicted in the image above, I became more comfortable with the themes, audiences, and ideas began to flow. I was initially drawn to the ‘food and drink’ theme, so I explored this in more detail and also considered themes related to gamers, thrill-seekers, and eco-warriors. I brainstormed ideas related to these themes.
One concept that emerged involved allowing customers to select a ‘game to play’ that would serve as the basis for their meal and overall dining experience. Customers would have the flexibility to change the game during the meal, enabling them to have multiple experiences in a single dining session. While waiting for their food, they could engage in gameplay either as a group or individually, ensuring they are never idle. When the food is served, the game would pause, encouraging customers to focus on their meal and companions without technology. This innovative dining experience would offer fun and novelty, suitable for all age groups.
