This week marked a shift toward feeling more comfortable and adjusted to the course and university life after being away for four months. The initial week was somewhat challenging as I acclimated, but this week, I started to feel settled and more confident in moving forward. It was also less intense compared to the first week, which I preferred. Having some breathing space allowed me to reflect on my work and approach it thoughtfully, without the added pressure of non-graded projects like the “Make It Manifesto.”
I particularly enjoyed learning about new websites and software tools introduced in our classes, even though it felt overwhelming at times. The Figma workshop, despite being information-heavy, became more comprehensible as it progressed. We also delved into the importance of usability tests in the design process, which opened my eyes to perspectives I might not have considered otherwise. Conducting usability tests with friends and family, where they had to complete tasks without using the search bar, was both enjoyable and enlightening. It provided insights into users’ thought processes and website navigation.
In summary, I found this week highly enjoyable as I delved deeper into various software tools and gained a better understanding of the user experience design field. I’m also appreciating the course structure more this year, as it focuses on a single topic, unlike the previous year when multiple topics were covered in a single term, which I found overwhelming.
