This task presented a bit of a challenge for me, given my unfamiliarity with creating personas. It became a valuable learning experience as I embarked on the process. I initiated by crafting three provisional personas, jotting down my initial impressions of the potential app’s target audience and envisioning their lifestyles. Subsequently, I developed empathy maps, delving into their emotions and opinions, which allowed me to conceptualize what users might desire in terms of app usability. Departing from conventional practices, I then devised a subject map for behavioural variables for each provisional persona. While this approach typically follows user interviews, I found it beneficial in envisaging diverse potential target audiences and organizing the information into a clear and accessible mapping system.

Following my user interviews, I proceeded to construct an affinity map. This synthesis brought together insights from both my provisional personas and the users I interviewed, providing a cohesive understanding of key areas to concentrate on in the development of primary personas. This process proved invaluable as it unveiled areas where my provisional personas were accurate and where adjustments were needed. Consequently, it greatly facilitated the formulation of the personality traits for the primary personas.

I proceeded to finalise my primary personas by integrating insights from both the provisional personas and the user interviews, aiming to craft the most authentic versions possible. This approach proved highly effective, and I’m satisfied with the outcome. Despite the extended duration of the task, I appreciate the thorough steps taken in arriving at the primary personas. This not only enhanced my understanding of persona creation but also ensured the creation of highly accurate personas. This meticulous process positions my app to effectively target the right audience. Subsequently, I curated user stories to articulate the perceived motivations behind their use of the app.
