User Interviews

In my user interviews with my Mum, Emily, Max, Saalihah, and James, their insights were crucial for developing personas and the value proposition canvas. These interviews significantly shaped my understanding of what my app should address and focus on in terms of user desires and needs, particularly in areas where they lack awareness or action. I carefully crafted open-ended questions to elicit detailed responses, avoiding closed-ended queries. I utilised an audio recording on my phone while keeping the questions open on my laptop. After exporting and transcribing the audio using Word, I meticulously reviewed the content, highlighting key points. To distil the information further, I employed ChatGPT to turn speaker 2’s speech into note form, which I complemented with sticky notes for additional clarity. I then collated all of my sticky notes and created an affinity map, showing everyone’s key points and responses in one area. I then took all of the notes from the affinity map and put them into subsections of ‘habits/pleasures,’ ‘pains,’ ‘sustainability,’ ‘thoughts/feelings,’ ‘finance,’ and ‘goals/motivations.’ This process facilitated a comprehensive understanding of participants’ concerns, issues, and desired changes. The use of colours corresponding to names aided in tracking individual responses. The resulting insights revealed intriguing patterns and distinctions in participants’ knowledge and perspectives.
