Today we had our first WordPress workshop in the Mac labs. I didn’t know what do expect as the only time before I had heard about WordPress was on Monday. The workshop was 3 hours long which I took notes on. The first half of the workshop, Rob gave us an introduction, addressing certain points like: customised design which improves functionality, understanding clients when creating a website and user goals. I found this really interesting, it gave an insight into the outside UX industry and how designers deal with their clients.

Below show the notes I took in the first half of the workshop

The second half of the workshop started off well. I was able to understand what Rob was showing on the computer, however I struggled with understanding certain technological terminology like plugins and how they worked. Rob also talked about how manually changing the code on your site can open more possibilities for us to explore. However I wasn’t too keen on this part of the workshop, coding, as I am not much of a coder and often get confused. I didn’t take many notes as I was trying to familiarise myself with the layout on WordPress which I am still struggling to understand.
