Throughout this week I was doing majority of my work at home as I had my first interview on the Friday. I also ensured that my draft research report proposal was ready for the Friday as I had only done the outline of the structure of my essay and the introduction and I really wanted Daves feedback and suggestions for improvement to make it better.

From my discussion with David in the morning on Monday, I was able to look at more resources that I could include and address for my actual report. I found writing the report to be a pretty simple process, looking at different guidelines, articles and books that would aid my research. I also came to the conclusion that it is better for me to do a subject matter expert interview based on neurodiversity within design instead of talking to people on their experiences interacting with design. This is because the subject matter expert would be able to give me a better understanding of the reasonings behind and challenges neurodiversity people face. This would then from part of my primary research. The discussion with Dave made me realise that it’s best not to do surveys as it wouldn’t give me enough data, rather analysing and looking at other studies that have previously been carried out would be much more beneficial to my work.

Throughout the week I have been reiterating designs for the all live events page that I am designing on my own. I had already done the low fidelity but I needed to turn it into a mid fidelity prototype, with all the relevant information and colours. As I wasn’t there throughout the week I relied on communicating with my team over snapchat – being our primary use of communication outside of studio time as it is something we all have and makes the group work feel less formal. Lizzy and I really liked the pink theme colour, however as a group decided that it was best to get rid of the pink theme and change it all to red – in line with the virgin wines colour red, just a little less stark, which is something that one of my test applicants didn’t like much when I was conducting a usability test for the events pages. I made these changes as soon as I could for the client meeting that my group were attending. The all live events page was pretty simple to design as I included illustrations that we used on the individual events pages to ensure there was consistency throughout the pages. My iterations on my own Figma board show how I went from using the colour pink to using the colour red and changing the design layout, experimenting with different colour headings and combinations.

From the feedback with Graham, in which Ellana took notes, I was pleased to see that he liked the concept of the word grape being in a bunch of grapes, which went alongside the witty wordplay, to ensure the information was engaging, grabbed the users attention and look fun with the illustrations Lizzy created in line with the brand guidelines – making sure I stayed consistent with my designs and they matched other web designs too. As I couldn’t be there for this crit with Graham I made sure that I explained my choices and reasonings through notes on the joint Figma file that was shown, so it made it easier for my group to explain what I had done.

Overall this week has flown by, with the amount of work i have been busy with, but it has definitely improved my organisation skills so far, as I want to make sure that I am keeping up with my group and doing as well as I can.
