This week started off by a tutor that I haven’t had before. He gave us an insight into how he builds websites and the importance of passion, motivation and curiosity. Without these three things, you won’t be able to produce work you are proud of or value. Through this improvement can be achieved. I do believe that I have a passion to do well and produce work that I am proud of. However with that comes disappointment when things don’t look how I intended or don’t look how I want it to. Through watching YouTube videos and reading articles on certain aspects throughout the projects, I pick up on details that I would’ve missed and enables me to understand the overall concept much better.
This lecture on Monday really showed that over time your approach to projects changes, however it is crucial that in order to be different, your work has to be interesting and captivating towards the audience. As a UX designer you are the middle man and bridge between clients and their audience, also prioritising function and form. He showed us a few designs of the app he created for costa and was the first cafe to incorporate a QR code into their app, before Starbucks.
I decided to prioritise my attention this week and next week to project 3 so that I can finish it or get majority of it done. I believe that it is hard for me to say I will be fully done with it by the end of next week because I had a lot of work to do, extra research and over the next few months until February hand in, I will continue picking up skills and add to this project to make it better from a users perspective. The feedback I got was really helpful as it established that with every decision I make, there has to be a reason and a justification to it, to ensure I address the brief and aim of my project properly.
Although slightly frustrated about the time constraint and evaluating certain choices I made for this website, I decided it was the best option to improve my website. Throughout the week I did further research and created my mid fidelity wireframes for both desktop and mobile. Other software like After effects, Photoshop and Illustrator became more prominent in this stage of my project as coming to the end of the week I decided to create animations to incorporate into my websites.
