I felt like this week has flown by in comparison to last week as we only had to come in on Monday and Thursday. I feel more comfortable asking questions to my tutors and more relaxed with my work load once I had broken the brief down into smaller bitesize tasks.
To start off the week we had a Figma workshop and a user testing workshop. I really enjoyed both of these and took notes which I can then look back on and will hopefully help me throughout Project 2. I unexpectedly didn’t have as much trouble with Figma as it had a similar layout to Adobe XD which I used in my 1st year.
The main focus of this week was completing my usability tests which took some time to get the hang of. However I am pleased through self evaluation and watching YouTube videos on what to do and what not to do I was able to improve my overall technique and approach.
I really enjoyed this week as I didn’t feel rushed with a lot of work to do. Learning about the importance of usability tests and the different types of testing – qualitative and quantitative, was really fascinating as I love the research aspect of projects. Through the tasks I gave users I was able to identify issues and by the last usability test, my analysis of the usability tests had become better in my opinion. I found it hard at times to try and not communicate with the user as some would continue to talk to me, however I tried my best by keeping quiet, blunt responses or adding input when necessary.
Overall I really enjoyed this week as it I was able to learn at my own pace and self reflect which I believe is very important.
