Below is a copy of the seven design principles, which are used throughout User Experience Design:
- Discoverability – ability for something to be discoverable, users should be able to locate their own way around a system.
- Feedback – make it clear to the user that an action has been taken, and what has been accomplished.
- Conceptual Models – a useful explanation of how something works. This is used subconsciously and intuitively, in order to systemise processes.
- Affordances – attribute of something that allows people to know how to use it.
- Signifiers – aspects of visual design design that represents potential and intended use, and to also show system status.
- Mapping – having a clear relationship between controls and the effect they have on the World. Controls should feel as natural as possible.
- Constraints – Having a limited range of interaction possibilities for the user, in order to simplify the interface and guide the user to the appropriate next action.
