The First Week Back

The First Byte Part 2, Visual Research
Part 2, Initial Mind-Map

The focus of the first brief’s are to evaluate and research food and drink websites in order to eventually create our own. Using Miro, I have analysed two websites using user flows and have started researching elements of food and drink websites that I appreciate,

however in hindsight I do need to add more criticism to my annotations (but this is something I will add to my notes during the next week); moreover, colour coding my notes will be useful for quickly identifying the positive and negatives of my annotations.

I have also taken the time to read about the subject and have read a chapter of ‘The Psychology of Everyday Things’ by Don Norman, and further studied his ‘Seven Principles of Design’. It was interesting to gain insight into how Norman believes that you should never blame yourself if you cannot operate a system, especially if you’re one of many people who have failed to operate it.

Failures are an essential part of exploration and creativity. If designers and researchers do not sometimes fail, it is a sign that they are not trying hard enough
