Developing Part 1 of the Brief
During the second week of the project, I have taken most of my time to develop the evaluative side of the brief. Using the notes I made on Norman’s Seven Design Principles I created notes on the two websites, I made user flows on within Task 1 (‘Dyson’ & ‘Eastern Dream’). As I described in my previous post, I wanted to become more evaluative within my research and during this task I practiced this using colour coded sticky notes.
When it came to creating sitemaps of the two sites, I felt that the ‘Eastern Dreamz’ website wouldn’t be very beneficial to my research, as I had found in the previous task that it didn’t have many design elements and that the amount of pages it had were very limited – and thus wouldn’t be very useful for this task. Moreover, as a whole the website isn’t very useful for inspiration purposes and therefore I decided to create sitemaps for the ‘Wagamamas’ and ‘Yo! Sushi’ websites instead; these websites are more beneficial to my research due to being better designed and more similar to what I am wanting to create at a later stage.

Using the sitemaps, I was able to gather insight into how working websites function and what I should include in my own website in order to make it functional. Using colour coded sticky notes, I once again evaluated the different websites and I further looked into how to design principles have been implemented into each site. This research provided useful understanding into what I would like to include in my own website, and I started to gather my ideas into a mind-map which covers both the visual and theoretical aspects of what I would like to include in my developing site.
