Design Research

This section mirrors our collaboration as a group where we created initial ideas and designs through sketches, gathering as many as possible. From our research we found particular styles and designs which we would like to continue with and develop by emerging them with our own ideas.

Inspiration Mood Board

Here as a group we added images of designs we liked for inspiration when producing ideas and sketches. The image in the top left played a part in our development for the wine tasting listing page where I made a map of the UK via Photoshop and users could hover over regions or cities to uncover different event locations. However this felt out of place and wasn’t continued with further.

We also took inspiration from Virgin wine’s competitors, including Naked Wines who demonstrate a modern and contemporary theme across their website. This is mirrored through the minimalistic use of round corners to make everything seem smooth and subtle animations once the user is hovered over products or buttons throughout the multiple user interfaces.

Initial Sketches:

A few of these inspirations came from competitors or the brand guidelines. This is because we wanted to create a design which fit in with the industry in which Virgin Wines is in but also wanted to stand out from fellow competitors. We took inspiration from the brand guidelines due to loving the use making the ‘joy’ font larger and felt that this was the best was to display the font and looked eye catching when large, this way the user could also see the characteristics of the font as it displayed deeper meanings by echoing the ‘natural flow’ of wine and the brand.

After numerous discussions with our tutors and as a group about our multiple design perspectives, we reached a mutual agreement and started wire-framing and creating high fidelity work to illustrate these concepts.
