I continued with developing my web design with wireframes in XD (which further on in the week I started to make into more developed prototypes).

This week, we had an online lecture given by Ameer Al Ashlab (who was also a student at NUA). His talk was incredibly inspiring and it was impressive to see what hard-work can really lead to. Ashlab also gave some helpful tips regarding our careers and suggested that for self development, working at a start-up can be beneficial – as it also allows you to have multiple job roles. In himself, Ashlab was very confident and he discussed that when starting a freelancing career you need to have the confidence to charge people a good rate, and make them believe you are the best they can get. We also had a lecture from John Carey who discussed accessibility within web design; his talk was incredibly insightful as I had never considered some of the points he had discussed, such as a keyboard trap being highly unaccessible. He discussed how most sites aim for an AA rating, which is classed as an acceptable accessibility; such websites will have high colour contrast, will have a clear nav bar and will also have evident headers.

This week I also started researching for the Design for Good brief. Initially, I researched a range of topics that interested me. I used sites such as Statista in order to gather my research. Using the data I collected, I created four different problem statements, which I refined with the help of Amy (she also told me how I would have to develop my problem statements at a later stage, however they were a good starting point for now). I selected air pollution as my topic to study further.

I created a mood-board inspired page that included statistics and information from differing trustworthy sites and used the sticky-note tool on Miro to further elaborate and annotate the charts and graphs.
