This week I conducted two more usability tests, and also critically analysed the way I did the interviews. Compared to the first interview, I have improved and am better at making the interview flow and getting more responses from the interviwee.

From the transcripts, I also made a start to an affinity map. This will let me look at the data I have collected in a more accessible way and ensures that I do not need to keep on re-reading the transcripts in order to remember what was uncovered during the duration of the interview. As I had now started to get a vague view of people’s perspective on air pollution I created a set of three personas, however I imagine these will need developing at a later stage of the project.

Regarding my Design for Web project, I had a crit where Dave gave me some pointers on how to improve the site. Still I am struggling with it looking inconsistent, however I am not very happy with the site overall so I am struggling with what to change with it. Most of the criticism was regarding text – most of which were easy fixes, such as making sure that all text is left aligned and that all headers are the same size.

We were also briefed into project 5, which admittedly is quite daunting as I am not close to finishing the research aspect of the last brief. However, the session was still useful as I was introduced to different sites that will help me with visually designing my website (e.g. Mobbin and the UX Archive). For this project we will be using Figma to develop our prototype, for this I’m a mixture of exited and feeling daunted – however, Figma is an industry standard tool so it’ll be definitely useful to know the software for the future!
