Project 6 – A pipe dream and its after effects

So the final step. Step 4.

As the video is available in the submission folders I wont post on here but I’ll discuss the few issues I had producing it.

Issues

So the first issue I ran across was the pool infographic. I foolishly presumed it would just work but I quickly realised how much processing power was needed to render 8800 swimming pools in an infographic. The work around to this which is pretty visible in the video is I transition from 1 pool to 8, then to a few hundred, and then the 8800 pools. These were all jpegs to save processing power and I tried my hardest to hide the transition in a motion blur.

The second issue I had was sound. I’ve worked in After Effects before but never with sound. This made the animation side very easy besides the pools. But when it came to lining up the sound it was a battle. In the end, I went with timing the “THE SOLUTION” animation to the beat change in the video and then constructed the rest of timings around that.
