Sailing north I spot eyes on a beam of light, this was unexpected. I didn’t even know a lighthouse was here. Well, let’s investigate. Upon arriving at the lighthouse I am greeted by Mark Simpson, an eccentric character who had many stories to tell…
During a short break for a fresh of breath air(I often get the phrase wrong but now I’m committed to it, welcome to my own inside joke that only you and I know 😉 ) I happen to bump into Mark Simpson, I invited Mark for a couple of drinks and I managed to make myself a new friend. During a Pint with Mark, I got to learn he was a sustainability consultant working for QODA. perfect.
He agreed to an interview but due to time clashes and his busy lifestyle from Mark he was unable to have an in-person interview but agreed to answer my questions over email whilst going on a business trip and as I had to start moving on with my app I readily accepted this offer. (I do gain another expert interview later but it was so late in the dev stage that I can only discuss what I would like to do in the future development stages of my app, this shall be discussed as and when it happens in the timeline).
The main insights I gained from Mark Simpson were:
Pleasure points
1. Makes meals to save money
2. You can control home meals to make them healthy and correctly portion each
Pain points
1. Hard to buy loose veg when there are not many options or the produce is damaged
2. Big shops require a car
3. Has overbought produce
4. food shops take time and effort
Opportunities
1. Supermarkets should encourage the public to buy single items
2. Sell odd-looking produce at cheaper prices
3. Delivery options could make shopping for groceries easier
The insights Mark gave me were invaluable, for an expert in the field to talk about wonky veg was the go-ahead I needed to commit to a wonky veg box.
I talked to the eccentric lighthouse keeper who gave me valuable insights into what direction I should be heading. They told me to take the dirt road down to an old wooden cottage owned by the persona siblings. I can only imagine what they have to tell me.
