Admittedly, over the Christmas holidays I did not do as much work as I should have, I found myself seriously lacking motivation which is unfortunate. But hopefully I will be able to pick myself back up again after some time back at uni. Something I did do over the break was research into my essay, so I had a much clearer understanding of what and who I want to discuss during my discussion. I wrote the introduction to my discussion, which I sent to Dave at the beginning of the week to just ensure I was on the right tracks, which he said I was.
Something that did change with my app design over Christmas, was the colour scheme – as I decided I wasn’t happy with the blue tones I had previously selected. Through research I found that purple is often associated and used within apps relating to money, and obviously with the focus of my app being grocery shopping, it suited my app too.

I started to replace the all-blue gradients with a purple, green and turquoise combination – and was infact much happier with the way the app was heading. I also looked into adding a location tracker within the app, so the user didn’t need to select the shop they were at in order to activate the app, as it would already know where the user is located, using location services.

During a crit, it was mentioned that having tokens would be a good incentive for my users and so I started to explore this concept during the week, also. I took inspiration from how Amazon designs their deals, on the tokens.

I also implemented the idea of a switch in order to make the process of choosing sustainable choices much easier for the user. Relating back to the ‘hook model’, it was discussed that some kind of animation regarding the switch model would create the “wow” moment that is needed to encourage the users to come back to use my app.
