Communication is Key

During this week, I worked on developing the communication areas of my app.

App Store Images

I created App Store images that show the key purposes of the app. I designated one image to every key feature of the app. I used Apple’s own iPhone 15 template for realism and to portray a modern and up-to-date app.

Communication Video

I also began to plan my app’s communication video by starting in Figma.

I plan to occasionally switch from the white background to a full purple background in order to show a key statistic or something I want the watcher to remember with a highlight.

I intentionally chose a playful, relaxed approach. I had a bit of an internal debate about using the F word within this project. However, I felt I successfully executed it in a way that worked. It’s supposed to come off as casual, relaxed and comfortable with itself. Directed towards the audience of young adults I feel this adds a level of humour taking away from the seriousness and creating a little ‘giggle’ moment.

Choosing a Soundtrack That Hits

I chose Bellyache by Billie Eilish to be my soundtrack for the video. It has an interesting dynamic of heaviness that varies throughout the song, with a little beat drop at some point which is what allows me to execute the “F Bomb” in the video so well, without it coming off as weird, unexpected and awkward. By choosing Billie Eilish, I chose a popular female artist well known for being an iconic public figure that many young adults relate too. Eilish is also known for her environmental efforts and campaigning, making me confident this was fitting for an app directed towards young adults who currently don’t or are wanting to make a more positive difference to the environment through their habits.

Bringing it into After Effects

I brought my video into After Effects, where I developed it into a video ad for my app.
