Let’s start ‘Designing for Good’

This week, I began the development of my Design for Good project. I started by looking at two ideas I could potentially explore. I was interested in litter picking, and the amount of litter that is left in our local streets and countryside, caused by a lack of available bins. I was also interested in paper waste, where this comes from and the measures I could take in the form of an app to find a solution to this.

Litter Picking

I was interested that there weren’t enough bins in the Norwich centre as this had come up in class discussion as we developed our projects. I found there were some existing products, but they all lacked purpose. It was interesting to me many people found litter in the streets most prominently.

Reducing Paper Waste

I began to research where paper comes from and what environments contribute most to the issue.

I found business and hospitals produced large amounts of paper waste, which I will consider examining in more detail if I choose this route of research.

I found some research to support my statements.
