Finalising Designs, Rehearsing & Presenting

I started this week by finishing work on the mobile about us page, in preparation for the client presentation on Thursday.

This page was a challenge to adapt to mobile, due to the large amount of content. I prioritised the text content which conveys information, and integrated images into the spaces between segments. I also reduced some of the copy in places, such as removing a quote/paragraph in the second segment. I also reorganised the cards displaying information about the wine clubs, to have two left aligned and one right aligned in between the two. This helps visually separate them, and lead the users eye down the page.

After finishing the about page, I also went through both the checkout and about us pages on desktop and mobile and ensured everything was prototyped correctly, often needing to tweak the state of some variables in components.

From Monday afternoon onwards, the whole group’s focus shifted to the presentation. This was an intense group effort to show everything we wanted to and have it completed and ready for Thursday.

We created the presentation in Figma, to take advantage of access to existing components & styles. After it was completed, it consisted of a total of 84 slides. Creating a presentation in Figma was definitely a learning curve, having to work with a lack of slide transitions or animations, and no presenter notes. We instead transferred our slide notes to a word document, exported as a PDF. We rehearsed the presentation and used two iPads from the MRC to reference our notes.

The presentation went well! We received a lot of positive feedback about our design style, consistency with brand guidelines, and use of animations. We’re really pleased with the outcome, and I’m proud of our group’s achievements.

Finally this week, I have been working on the research report proposal alongside the presentation, gathering sources and structuring my sections. I’ve also started preparing my submission folder, by recording video walk-throughs of the prototypes and presentation, which will be shared with the group.
