Personal Planning Folder & Portfolio

I chose to design my personal planning folder, including CV, in Figma. I chose a colour scheme that I felt looked professional & clean, paired with the typeface Strawford – purchased from Atipo Foundry.

I researched UX studios and agencies in Norwich using Google and LinkedIn. Although I was open to adding studios and agencies from outside of Norwich, potentially in London, I was positively surprised by how many there are based in Norwich, many of which with London offices. This research was really valuable as I had not heard of some of these, such as Kurv, Grit Digital and Sponge – but they really caught my attention, particularly Kurv.

To demonstrate industry engagement I have written about my experience at Sync the City. This was a very insightful event to attend and I feel it has really pushed me to engage more with industry and be more aware – after the event, I set up my LinkedIn account properly and connected with several of the industry professionals I met there. I also looked into Summer internships – unfortunately not many are open for applications currently, however I did find some interesting companies that do offer them at some point, including Starling and Spotify.

Finally – I chose to design my portfolio website using Squarespace, connected to my domain jameshopper.design. I researched a number of platforms but ultimately chose Squarespace due to its easy to use yet still very powerful builder, combined with the pricing of plans and included benefits.

The process of setting up the website was relatively straightforward, it was then just a matter of writing each case study. I am really proud of how these have turned out, especially the page on my Sync the City team HubL. I am very happy with how they are presented, and am confident this is a good portfolio to use for any internship applications.

With Project 8 now done, I have finished. This is the final blog post of BSc2a and the final piece of my submission!
