Evaluating user-centred design
For this project we had to write a 3000 word essay we were told to:
- Evaluate the success of user-centred design
- demonstrate a critical understanding of the topic
- present analysis on a range of research sources
- use appropriate language
- employ hardvard
- if you are going to add images make sure they are important and referred to in the essay
- at the heart of the essay there should be three seperate case studies
- before that there must be some kind of introduction
- and following the case studies, some kind of conclusion
- The annotated bibliography is where you show the validity of your knowledge
Word count includes:
- Everything bar bibliography appendices and image captions
- add word count on it
- can go over by 10%
User-centred design means the needs wants and limitations of users, and it is an approach not a process.
Topics to follow are:
- UCD in consumer-facing products services in a specific sector
- UCD in social media platforms
- UCD in games of a particular game
Produce a written report that identifies and evaluates three case studies, for each one:
- Identify ehat the objectives are
- how user-centred design helps them to be achieved
- How design success might be evaluated
Questions to ask:
- how is the success of UCD evaluated
- who is the business
- who is the customer
- what was the problem
- how was it addressed through design
- did the design work
- how do we know it worked
- what do you think about his
For this essay I chose the topic of social media and y three case studies were Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat.
