Experience website – research

When I first started to think about my website I picked the theme of adventure and decided to design it for the target audience of gamers. I decided this as it links to the website that I analysed before so I felt like I knew more about designing a website for this.

First I started looking at what adventure icons might look like and what their colour schemes might be. I found that they use white earthy tones and their icons have outdoor references like mountains or compasses and so on.

I then looked at different design ideas where I looked at what the experience might include like, sky diving, camping, hunting and so on. I ended up deciding that the experience will be more of an exploring experience where people go into it and explore different areas they may not get to explore in real life.

I also looked at name ideas to inspire my design further and I knew I wanted to includes the words adventure and VR and came up with ideas from there.

I then looked at different websites that do a similar thing for inspiration and so I can see what works and what I would like to include in my designs. I used green sticky notes for positive parts of the websites, orange sticky notes for negative parts and yellow sticky notes to represent ideas that I would have on my website or something I might change on my website.

I looked at some imagery to do with virtual reality and adventure to think about what images I might include in my website but also what images might inspire colours and visual ideas.

To then narrow down my design ideas I looked at different fonts that are related to adventure but also that are visible enough to read. For example, the font adventure is good for a title as it is big and bold and therefore easy to read. But if it were to be used all over the designs for normal text it would look too bulky and would make it difficult to read and also difficult to tell what text it more important than other. This is why I also looked at more simple fonts for the rest of the text design
