Project 1
In our first workshop, we had to write some of the advantages and disadvantages of every app, that we commonly use on a daily basis.
To begin, me and my group split the work up to make for more efficient work. We split up the work so some of us focused on finding the disadvantages, whilst the others figured out the advantages. I help focused on the disadvantages, we wrote are ideas down on post it notes and discussed them as a group.
One of the problems I encountered was from the app I use the most: Spotify, I find it really annoying the fact that the new feature in this app is only Bluetooth friendly which I think the majority would have preferred an alternative method or more of a private join group session in order to avoid compromises. This is one of the disadvantages that I wrote down and we analysed it together. Through discussing and analysing my group-mates ideas we found that the disadvantages slightly outweighed the advantages that we could come up with.
This workshop gave us useful pointers on where and how to start our project work. We were assigned with a task to use WordPress to describe our work process throughout the week
Our second day, we had a lecture in Duke Street. The lecture covered our task from the previous workshop on Monday; and also furthered the discussion which I found to be very informing.
The main purpose of this project was in rejuvenating a website, that shows any problems whilst navigating on it. To find these problems our lecturer introduced to us a procedural list on how to make a well UX made website.
In one of these we had to interview different random people and ask them about the website and get as much as information, to enrich our research.
Later in the day we went to the new NUA building Bank Lane, where our lecturer gave us a tour. Students come to Bank Lane to complete their work and socialise with others in a comfortable environment. The area accommodates a large open stage which students can use to create films and perform on.
As soon as we finished our tour, we were excused for the day. This provided the perfect opportunity to interview for my first project, so I asked two of my classmates to collaborate with me.
On reflection, I found this day to be really educational. Initially in the WordPress workshop in the morning, we had the pleasure of meeting our second lecturer in our new course, Rob Skinn. As a lecturer, Rob was really informative and straight-forward, helping us develop a detailed understanding of the WordPress application.
Project 2:
Our first ever project coinsists in remodernizing/renovate an ecommerce website that we can analyze. In my case, I already have seen Amaretto as a potential in renovation, website intended. The site presented was not as clear and had loads of imperfections. This is where we had to step in, using different research methologies we had to gather as much information in both interviews and mood boarding to create some design recomendations.
During my interviews loads of many people complained a lot about the padding and the colour scheme of the website which wasn’t as visually pleasant as it seems. To fix that I opted to design a header and the footer for them, and plus some categories to make look cooler.
While choosing the colour palette for the website, I noticed that the logo had similar colour to an italian dessert, Tiramisú. Since, the shop is about selling products imported from Italy, this colour scheme might remember them a little bit like home.
I think the overall composition of the project went alright, there are some imperfections but that would be my first ever. The link below shows the Miro board for Project 2 along with the submission folder where I will show my design recommendation.
