Evaluate and Iterate – Goal Oriented User Behaviour, Design Principles, Site map and Heuristic Markup<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For week 1 of the Project 2 Evaluate and Iterate, I have already learned so much. I chose an experience website to do my research on – being Thames Rivercruise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was initially confused about addressing some of the Don Norman’s principles for the website analysis as some were similar and was hard to distinguish the differences between some of them. I simplified each of the principles in my notes, which helped me to address them in my Miro board in relation to the website Thames Rivercruise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example affordances and signifiers. I then took it upon myself to do some further research and look for examples, coming to the conclusion that some of the principles interlink. For the constraints principle, I initially too a screenshot of the ‘Join Our Newsletter’ which only allowed you to put in your email and seemed more like a choice, however I changed it to the contact us page as it was more restricted with inputting information and had ‘*’ to show that you had to fill it in.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Goal-oriented user behaviour shows one flow of the website to book a cruise. From this I was able to identify main routes as well as side routes to achieve the end goal. I found this task quite simple to do as it wasn’t a long process or difficult. Overall I would say my favourite part of this design brief was the site map and heuristic markup. I went into detail when analysing and annotating the red routed using a traffic light system. Through this task, it taught me the importance of attention to detail and things that often get missed can easily be fixed.<\/p>\n<\/div>
