First and foremost, transitioning from the traditional method of compiling my reflective journal to a digital format this year has been an exciting and transformative endeavor. As someone who has always been captivated by the realm of digital technology and online expression, this shift represents a step towards the modernization of my personal writing practice. Learning WordPress, a versatile and popular platform for web content creation, has long been on my list of skills to acquire. The prospect of utilizing it to craft a digital version of my reflective journal fills me with a sense of anticipation and creative enthusiasm. It’s worth noting that my initial exposure to WordPress came through the guidance of Robert Skinn, whose expertise and instruction provided me with a solid foundation in using this platform. Although the multitude of features and options within WordPress may initially appear daunting, it’s also reminiscent of a time when, as a younger individual, I embarked on the journey of creating my own blog. Witnessing the evolution of web technologies and the changes in the World Wide Web landscape since then has been a fascinating journey in itself.
My decision to delve into the field of User Experience (UX) design stems from my firsthand observations of how the internet has become an integral and transformative component of our daily lives. The digital realm, with its ever-expanding influence, has redefined the way we communicate, interact, and access information. As consumers, it has become increasingly essential for us to effortlessly navigate websites and applications, particularly on mobile devices. This realization, coupled with my personal experiences as an individual who grew up during the millennium age, when the internet transitioned from novelty to a way of life, has been a significant driver for my choice of the UX design course. My generation bore witness to the internet’s transformative power, and it profoundly influenced the way we connect with the world, seek information, and engage in various aspects of our lives. This shift has made me acutely aware of the importance of creating digital environments that are user-friendly, intuitive, and accommodating.
My commitment to these interests in graphic design, user-friendly interfaces, and online journals remains unwavering. In this digital journal, you will have the opportunity to explore my journey as I navigate through the intricacies of WordPress, experiment with UX design tools, and explore various resources. As I enter my second year at Norwich University of the Arts, I look forward to expanding my knowledge, honing my skills, and embracing the ever-evolving landscape of the digital world. The fusion of creativity, technology, and user-centric design principles continues to be the driving force behind my educational and professional pursuits.
