This is where a piece of software teaches itself rather than following explicit instructions.<\/li><li>In November 2022, ChatGPT, a large language model (LLM) developed by OpenAI became the most rapidly adopted new software launch in history&#8221;.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6>What is it not?<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>I found this section of the lecture interesting. Some points that Dave covered was the fact that AI is not:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)<\/li><li>Factually Accurate<\/li><li>Citable<\/li><li>Free<\/li><li>Sentient\/ conscious (yet)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The last point I found intriguing, as for my research report I am studying Artificial Empathy, so this made me think about how computers are trying to seem empathetic (for numerous different reasons) but actually aren&#8217;t. I took this further and wrote about it in my essay!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6>Adobe<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>Something exciting that Dave showed the class was the integration of AI in Adobe software (in <em>Sensei <\/em>and <em>Firefly<\/em>). The two promo videos which flaunted the new software were really cool, and and the whole class looked amazed about its potential. I personally cannot wait for it to come out for the general public!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6>How we can use AI in our own essays<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>A main topic of the presentation was how we can actually use AI in our own dissertations, without becoming reliant on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In short:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Don&#8217;t use AI as my own work<\/li><li>Don&#8217;t cite it as a reliable author<\/li><li>Do use it as a helpful guide<\/li><li>Do fact-check it with other sources<\/li><li>Do be transparent about the use of AI<\/li><li>Do reference AI software in my bibliography.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AI Technical Report Seminar In this seminar, Dave discussed some new and up-and-coming AI software, and also how Sci-Fi is becoming a reality &#8211; quickly.
