I felt for this blog post, it would work best for me to combine the two weeks worth of work as the aim for the weeks were very similar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The large focus was the presentation to Steve and Holly from The User Story<\/em> on the 02\/02\/2023. For the presentation we had to show our designed apps, the reason for creating it and the research behind it. Overall, I feel my presentation was a success – although I was incredibly nervous. But in order to complete the presentation I was cautious of the work that needed to be completed beforehand, in order to best show off my app design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I spent a lot of time developing my ‘scoring system’ and also the switch element to my app – as these are both very important elements to the functionality to the app. I wanted to make sure I had a coherent idea regarding both of these features, especially with the presentation coming up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the two weeks, my skills in using components and properties became more developed. I created animations using components which are used throughout the interface, and I used the same method to make the “wow” moment with my switch. I also realised that through components I can create consistency, especially through button design – and thus I restarted my Design for Web<\/em> project in the hopes that I could tackle the consistency issue using components and properties.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

My product demo video was also started during this time, and although I have some knowledge of After Effects it is still quite limited. I created storyboards in Figma in order to help me plan out what I want to create, but I found this was quite limiting and that once I had started, my ideas were better when I was creating them on the spot (in After Effects itself).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Something that I really enjoyed creating for the presentation (and my project in general), was a prototype of my app in the app store. I really enjoyed thoroughly studying the App Store (regarding font size, leading, colour, etc) in order to create a working prototype that looks like it is actually apart of the Apple App store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As briefly mentioned before, I took another look at my Design for Web<\/em> brief. This time I decided to tackle it on Figma (as I much prefer the software to XD) ,so I was already off to a better start. Using components I created buttons which all looked the same (which made a huge improvement from the last version).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, something I was struggling with, with my prototype in XD was white space and font sizing. But as it turns out, the frame size I was using was not the correct desktop size and thus I ensured to make the new desktop-view size 1440 x 1024 – and this solved both of the issues. In the previous version I also used three fonts, which I reduced to two and this made the site look much cleaner and more sophisticated. Using components, I created a hover state for each button on the website – which although was a fairly lengthy process was most definitely worth it, as on the final prototype the feedback it gives is very effective!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
