At the very beginning of the week my website faced criticism from Jonny, however his advice was incredibly useful and after creating the changes that he advised, my website elevated in quality. A major change was editing my nav-bar to ensure my buttons were aligned to my logo, in hindsight Jonny’s criticism definitely aided my website in looking more professional and less clumsy to the user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, you may notice the fact that the font size has been reduced, which was another recommendation from Dave. Something many people in the class had done was making things look too big on the screen, for example my body copy was about 30pt, but I reduced it to 17pt to make it look more fitted to the screen. In addition to this, Jonny mentioned how he often works on a 1440 size screen (compared to the 1943 that I am currently working on) and that the large screen size might be the reason why people were having sizing issues. In my future projects I will try out Jonny’s recommended screen size and also the ‘base 8 scale’ (which includes using a grid with 8 columns and making button sizes divisible by 8, etc) as this should help to elevate my web designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My week was very much focused on ‘fixing’ my website with Jonny’s criticism in mind. A major thing I had to keep in mind was the idea of consistency, and ensuring all of my titles remained the same and buttons were designed in the same way, etc. This is something that I struggle with as I get too invested into designing things in a new way, and do not focus on what I have already created and back-track to ensure my website remains congrous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With my ‘Design for Good’ the broader perspective on the topic (which I had gathered from the previous research) allowed me to start creating my interview questions, which I created and then finalised with Dave. After ensuring they were fit for use I conducted two interviews over the course of the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my Miro board I also took the time to critically self reflect on my interview using red, orange and green sticky notes. I found this very useful for ensuring I was conducting the interview in a productive and useful manner, which would be beneficial to my own research, and also in future interviews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Admittedly, I need to spend much more time on the ‘design for good’ brief. My focus for the upcoming week will be on getting more interviews as from my last project I now understand how important interviews are, as they were incredibly important for constructing my website. I do however, need to conduct more usability tests on my ‘design for good’ brief as I have not conducted any on my ‘design for web brief’. I’m struggling with what I need to do for this though, so will ask for help and guidance which will allow me to do this on my next project. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
