The focus of this week was to start developing the visual aspects of my website.

Using the Sitemaps that I created last week (for ‘Dyson’, ‘Wagamamas’ & ‘Yo! Sushi’) I gathered my positive thoughts of these website into a mindmap. This allowed me to put all of the elements that I appreciate into one space and this have easy access to whilst developing my website. I also did research into calories and how important calorie free menus are; and how beneficial they can be for certain individuals. Using the information I found, I want to implement a calorie-free section to my site.

I developed sitemaps in five different stages – the first of which being very simple, and then the final one being much more developed and personalised to my own website. I had made the mistake of developing the sitemaps for a general website, rather than it being personal to my own and thus had to drastically change what would be in the nav-bar from one sitemap to another. However, the final sitemap, I feel, is a solid base for me to develop from.

Using the sitemaps, I started to develop versions of a homepage into Miro. I took inspiration from the websites I previously researched and also the mindmap I touched on earlier.

During the week, I also took the time to read ‘Rocket Surgery Made Easy’. The chapter which I have written about in a separate blog post was significant due to the focus being on user tests, and this is going to be my focus of the next week as I will be concluding my findings after I have completed my final (and fifth user test) on the Yo! Sushi website.
