Most of easter break was spent as just that: a break!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before I ventured off on holiday, I spoke at the AI Summit in DSR. It was much more business focused than I expected it to be and I had curiosities around getting marginalised people in with making<\/em> the AI: how we empower them to learn, how we (continue) to shift the industry to be more diverse and varied in demographics, how those voices influence the data being used in AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a week in Norwich, I travelled to Montreal, Toronto, Niagara Falls and Buffalo (NY).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I completed my case study for the \u2018amurabi internship the first week of break. I was given about three hours to take a law document that had been translated into plain language, choose a section of interest, and re-design the document to be appealing, informative and user friendly. While I can\u2019t show what I\u2019ve done (confidentiality agreements), I can share the feedback! (And a far away, illegible screenshot of the miro board I submitted).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last week of easter break was the most important aspect of easter break. I had my interview with the CEO of \u2018amurabi for the summer internship opportunity. This happened while I was at a hostel in Toronto, and I was quite surprised by how relaxed it was. It felt like less of an interview and more of a check-in that I understood the role and responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I heard back from the my boss the next day with an offer for the internship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To say I am thrilled for this internship is an understatement. It is fulfilling dreams of mine that I have held for years, and providing a potential pathway to continue realising more of those dreams (or make aspects of them more achievable) possible. Landing this internship was a sigh of relief after applying to 22. But, if I\u2019m honest with myself, those 22 were just shots in the dark. I wasn\u2019t really passionate about any of the companies (or their large, corporate size) but instead did it out of the push that I needed something.<\/em> While I was swimming through (read: drowining) amongst rejected application after rejected application, my friend heather sent me a beautiful text message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That was exactly what I needed to hear (as you can probably tell from the heart reactions). And a little after that text was when the \u2018amurabi internship opportunity came up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lately (brace yourself, I\u2019m going a bit spiritual here), I\u2019ve been noticing how many things will align if you open yourself to them all. I wasn\u2019t open to those other internships – not really, because I knew that I didn\u2019t actually want<\/em> them. Reading Ways of Being, a massive key take away (spoiler alert!) is the oracle, the unknown, the unexplainable. That is the earth, playing a part in what we do. The earth, the universe, whatever you want to call it. As I\u2019ve been leaning into exploring (and accepting) the unknown more this spring, I\u2019ve also leaned into to trusting myself and the decision I make (conciously and subconciously). I\u2019ve always been someone to question everything. It was my facebook bio since I was 15. And right now, I\u2019m straying away from that a bit to loosen the questioning and embrace the flow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alright, spiritual break over and explanation of spring break over as well. Onto the grind once more. (I\u2019ve included some photos from my trip just for fun. Enjoy!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
