{"id":293,"date":"2024-01-05T12:41:53","date_gmt":"2024-01-05T12:41:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nua-ux.design\/emily-pryor\/blog\/?p=293"},"modified":"2024-01-29T12:01:57","modified_gmt":"2024-01-29T12:01:57","slug":"project-7-essay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nua-ux.design\/emily-pryor\/blog\/projects\/project-7-essay\/","title":{"rendered":"Essay briefing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Evaluating user-centred design<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this project we had to write a 3000 word essay we were told to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Evaluate the success of user-centred design <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>demonstrate a critical understanding of the topic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>present analysis on a range of research sources<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>use appropriate language<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>employ hardvard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>if you are going to add images make sure they are important and referred to in the essay<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>at the heart of the essay there should be three seperate case studies <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>before that there must be some kind of introduction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and following the case studies, some kind of conclusion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The annotated bibliography is where you show the validity of your knowledge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Word count includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Everything bar bibliography appendices and image captions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>add word count on it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>can go over by 10%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>User-centred design means the needs wants and limitations of users, and it is an approach not a process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Topics to follow are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>UCD in consumer-facing products services in a specific sector<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UCD in social media platforms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UCD in games of a particular game<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Produce a written report that identifies and evaluates three case studies, for each one:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Identify ehat the objectives are <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how user-centred design helps them to be achieved<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How design success might be evaluated<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Questions to ask:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>how is the success of UCD evaluated <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>who is the business <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>who is the customer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>what was the problem<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how was it addressed through design<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>did the design work<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how do we know it worked<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>what do you think about his<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For this essay I chose the topic of social media and y three case studies were Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Evaluating user-centred design For this project we had to write a 3000 word essay we were told to: Word count includes: User-centred design means the needs wants and limitations of users, and it is an approach not a process.
