{"id":28,"date":"2023-10-05T12:57:28","date_gmt":"2023-10-05T12:57:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nua-ux.design\/emily-pryor\/blog\/?p=28"},"modified":"2023-10-17T13:28:18","modified_gmt":"2023-10-17T13:28:18","slug":"workshop-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nua-ux.design\/emily-pryor\/blog\/workshops\/workshop-2\/","title":{"rendered":"WordPress"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>For this workshop we went into a mac lab and were told about the basics of wordpress and how we could improve on and design websites with it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rob left us with some tips on how to create a useful and accessible website as well as what we should do when talking to clients on what they want us to create. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scoping out a project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Is the client providing assets like text and images<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What can the existing analytics tell us about the current site<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Does the client require additional support such as Email delivery and hosting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do they have an established brand<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Define the scope<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Design<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>He then went on to explain things that we may need to consider during the design phase<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The brand <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The design\n<ul>\n<li>What is good<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Educational<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sales<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Capture user data<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understanding this will be instrumental in refining both design and user journey <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Are there oppurtunities to add value<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This could include bespoke coding<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Think creatively <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Don&#8217;t let your liitations in development stifle your creativity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintaining a coherent brand look is important<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When a client already has a well-defined brand, it&#8217;s imperative to design with that in  mind<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Employ widely recognised methods that users are accustomed to, and if feasible, explore creative avenues to push boundaries<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For this workshop we went into a mac lab and were told about the basics of wordpress and how we could improve on and design websites with it.
